Water reuse in the steel industry

A 15,000 cubic meters/day reclaimed water reuse membrane system solution for a large steel plant.

Customer Pain Points:

1. Low membrane system efficiency, with a first-stage RO recovery rate of 60%.
2. Short membrane element replacement cycle; after about 2 years, the desalination rate significantly drops to 90%.

Feymer Technology Solution:

1. Technical staff conducted detailed system investigation and water quality analysis, discovering that the iron ion content in the cleaning solution was far above normal levels.
2. The solution team analyzed the cause of increased pressure difference: at the start of system operation, iron debris in the pipes was flushed into the membrane system.
3. Redesigned the cleaning plan: changed the original cleaning procedure, modified the cleaning agent formula, increased acid washing frequency, and reduced alkali washing frequency.

Results:

1. After adjusting cleaning methods and chemicals, the pressure difference returned to normal.
2. The membrane element replacement cycle was extended from 2 years to 3 years.
